About Us


Since 1990, the Commerce Children's Center has been providing child care to federal employees, as well as, private clients who are not federal employees.  
The center was founded on three principles.
►  CREATE a loving and nurturing environment that each child find enjoyable.
►  DEVELOP children's initiative, competency and sense of responsibility.
►  RESPOND to the needs of parents.
Two organization work together to achieve these goals, the Commerce Children's Center Association and Child Care Partners Initiative. 


The highest level organization having responsibility for the center  is a not-for-profit corporation known as the Commerce Children's Center Association (CCCA).  The CCCA  is comprised of families with children at the center and any individual who contributes to the center through time, services, funds, or
in-kind donations. The Commerce Children's Center Association has several committees including the Parent Advisory Committee (PAC). 
Through the PAC, parents are invited to be active in the life of the center, work with the center director to plan special events, help with staff appreciation efforts and offer feedback on center operations.  The meeting minutes of CCCA  are posted at the center.

CCCA contracts with Child Care Partners Initiative (CCPI), a Colorado non-profit company, for the day-to-day operations of the Center.
In addition to being responsible for management, CCPI is responsible for developing and implementing the center's program and curriculum to match the goals of CCCA.
Child Care Partners is a well-respected company with a wide range of services and liaisons for more than 30 years.  They are actively involved in the early childhood community, including the National Association for the Education of Young Children and its local affiliates, the Colorado and Boulder AEYC's, as well as, the Colorado Early Education Association and Qualistar.  CCPI is active in child advocacy efforts. 


We are located on-site at the Department of Commerce Laboratories in Boulder, Colorado. We are a year-round nationally accredited program that provides care Monday through Friday from 7:00 am – 6:00 pm. We are a federal child care facility following the federal holiday closure schedule; we are closed two additional days each year for. Primarily, we provide child care for federal families.  We also accept families who are not federal employees on a space available basis.

The Commerce Children's Center cares for children ages 6 weeks through 6 years. We serve a morning and afternoon snack and a nutritious home-cooked lunch. Our menu includes organic milk and fresh fruits and vegetables. The Center has eight classrooms, four outdoor play yards, and an outdoor garden area. The center also has an indoor gross motor activity room. Our campus location provides access to open space, walking trails and beautiful mountain views.
