Who we are...

Commerce Children's Center opened in 1990 on the U.S. Department of Commerce Boulder Labs, and in the 36 years since, only three directors have led it. We're a small, close community built around a community of individuals dedicated to learning.

Today, our leaders Lindsey and Haley care for the day to day life of the center, working alongside a dedicated and highly educated teaching staff.

This shovel broke the ground to build our school 36 years ago!

More than a daycare...

We believe safety and trust are the foundation of a child's development. Our educators understand how their everyday care builds that trust into curiosity, learning, and growth. Here are a few of the research-backed practices that guide our classrooms:

HighScope Curriculum

One of the most rigorously studied early childhood approaches in the country. In practice, it means intentional, play based learning where children make real choices about what they explore.

Conscious Discipline

How we walk children through hard moments. Instead of punishing behavior, we help them recognize what they're feeling and find their way forward.

Responsive Cargiving

Our infant teachers follow your baby's cues, not a schedule. Exploration is at the core of all our activities including music, movement, and focus times.

ASL foundations

Babies can sign "more" or "all done" before they can speak leading to more communication, less frustrated, and stronger bonds.

NAEYC accredited

The National Association for the Education of Young Children sets the highest tandard of early childhood education in the country, and fewer than 10% of centers meet it. We're proud to be one of them encouraging growth in our community.

A close knit Boulder Community...

Located on the U.S. Department of Commerce Boulder Labs, our center is part of a community built around learning. It's a unique setting where parents see each other at work, children grow up together, and a shared love of curiosity quietly rubs off on everyone.

Our community reaches beyond the labs too. Boulder itself continues to enrich our program in ways we're grateful for. If you work for a Department of Commerce agency, you qualify for our subsidized DoC tuition rate.

Because of our unique setting, families also have a real voice in how the center is run. Each fall, parents can be elected to the Commerce Children's Center Association Board, which works alongside the DOC Boulder Labs and Child First to support our operations.

How CCC's waitlist works...

montessory toys illustration
Fill out a form to join our waitlist below! Applications are sorted by date applied and your child's age.
Priority tiers: Based on our federal site agreement, we are required to proritize enrollment for federal employees and associates, then the general public. Most of our enrollment happens near August. We know how much community matters to a child's development, so we proritize children moving up together as a cohort into their next classroom. Mid-year openings happen often too, just a bit less predictably.
You only pay when we offer you a spot. A $100 enrollment fee plus 50% of your first month's tuition is due when we offer you a place and you accept it.
Federal verification. If you're a federal employee or associate, we'll likely need a copy of your badge, your federal on-site phone number, or a recent pay stub.

Please submit individual applications for every child. We'll be in touch soon!
